Polkerris Beach combines an idyllic sandy Cornish cove with first-class watersports facilities set in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Situated within spectacular coastline of low cliffs and secluded sandy beaches, it offers stunning scenery, which is the perfect background for getting out on the water as well as superb walking routes on the South West Coast Path to the beautiful Menabilly valley, dramatic Gribbin Head, and picturesque Fowey estuary. The area around Polkerris is well known for its links with the author Daphne du Maurier, the setting of many of her novels, and more recently as an area for the filming of Rosamunde Pilcher's books.
A family-friendly beach, Polkerris is perfect for rock pooling, sandcastle building, sea swimming, and enjoying a day out with the whole family. The beachside takeaway cafe The Hungry Sailor offers artisan Cornish ice cream, pasties, bacon baps, and coffees, and if you've forgotten any essentials, our beach shop is open every day for buckets and spades, wetsuits, bodyboards, souvenirs, and much more. When you're ready to relax, you can savour a pint of local ale at the Rashleigh Inn, one of the UK’s top waterside pubs, or enjoy seafood and pizza at the award-winning Sam’s on the Beach restaurant.
Polkerris is the ideal location to take to the water and learn something new or refresh your skills with our team of highly qualified and experienced watersports instructors. Our watersports centre offers tuition in sailing, stand up paddle boarding, windsurfing or powerboating, as well as kayak, paddleboard, and sailing dinghy hire. Activities must be booked in advance here or by contacting our team at the beach.
