Polkerris Beach combines an idyllic sandy Cornish cove with first-class watersports facilities set in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Situated within spectacular coastline of low cliffs and secluded sandy beaches, it offers stunning scenery, which is the perfect background for getting out on the water as well as superb walking routes on the South West Coast Path to the beautiful Menabilly valley, dramatic Gribbin Head, and picturesque Fowey estuary. The area around Polkerris is well known for its links with the author Daphne du Maurier, the setting of many of her novels, and more recently as an area for the filming of Rosamunde Pilcher's books.

A family-friendly beach, Polkerris is perfect for rock pooling, sandcastle building, sea swimming, and enjoying a day out with the whole family. The beachside takeaway cafe The Hungry Sailor offers artisan Cornish ice cream, pasties, bacon baps, and coffees, and if you've forgotten any essentials, our beach shop is open every day for buckets and spades, wetsuits, bodyboards, souvenirs, and much more. When you're ready to relax, you can savour a pint of local ale at the Rashleigh Inn, one of the UK’s top waterside pubs, or enjoy seafood and pizza at the award-winning Sam’s on the Beach restaurant.

Polkerris is the ideal location to take to the water and learn something new or refresh your skills with our team of highly qualified and experienced watersports instructors. Our watersports centre offers tuition in sailing, stand up paddle boarding, windsurfing or powerboating, as well as kayak, paddleboard, and sailing dinghy hire. Activities must be booked in advance here or by contacting our team at the beach.

The Main Car Park at Polkerris is located approximately 200m from the beach on the right-hand side as you descend the hill entry to Polkerris village. It is pay and display between 8am to 6pm. Prices as follows: 1 hour £1.20, 2 hours £2.40, 3 hours £3.60 and All Day £5.00. There is also an additional Overflow Car Park situated in a field 200 yards on from the Polkerris Beach turning, heading towards Menabilly.  This is open during the summer months and is a 5-minute walk down a path to the beach. The cost is £2.50 for the day.

For disabled access to the beach, you are welcome to drop off and collect from the beach slipway. We have a beach wheelchair available, which can be booked in advance.

Dogs are not permitted on the beach from Good Friday until 30th September. They are welcome at the pub inside and out, the outside tables at Sam's, and the decked area outside our shop and cafe.

BBQs and metal detectors are not permitted on the beach from Good Friday to September 30th.

We look forward to seeing you at the beach soon!
