The Sanctuary is also home to fun loving otters, playful penguins, potty paddock animals and a rock pool hosting a wide range of marine creatures.
Explore behind the scenes at the heart of marine rescue in Cornwall’s only working Seal Hospital. See how we carry out life-saving work with our animals and nurture our new arrivals. You can also experience what it takes to become a marine expert. From a sneak peek at our food preparation area, to getting hands on in our hospital pup pen you’ll get an insight into the science behind the Sanctuary. Tucked against the picturesque backdrop of the Helford River, the Sanctuary is a designated site of special scientific interest and an area of outstanding natural beauty. From Helston take A3083 to the Lizard, once past Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose take first left at roundabout on B3293. After 1/2 mile take second turning left to Gweek. Follow road for 3 miles into Gweek village. Just before The Black Swan turn right to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary.

February half term Mudfest! 14 - 22 February 2015
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary are inviting people to grab their wellies and embrace the outdoors, whatever the weather this February half-term. To celebrate the launch of our brand new nature trail we have lined up a host of activities designed to help our visitors make the most of the beautiful outdoor setting. September to February - Don’t miss our rescued seal pups!
Seal mating season begins around September time, this also coincides with rougher seas and storms approaching. What this means is that during this time we get a lot of seal pup call outs. The BDMLR, the RSPCA and the Cornish Seal Sanctuary rescue between 40 and 60 pups each year. As the leading Seal Rescue Centre in Europe and the only one in Cornwall we then become home to these pups while they are rehabilitated until they are ready for release. Our hospital and pools will be full and it’s the perfect time to for a visit!
25th October to 2nd November - Hauntingly good half term!
Come along with your little witches and wizards and take part in our Half term Halloween Fun! There will be some otterly scary games, spooky badge making, a witches’ wood trail and even a witches’ coven. Half price entry for all those in fancy dress!
October to November - Autumn Awesomeness
Spoil yourself with a hot chocolate and cream in our cafe, get your wellies on and splash about in our woods and take to the trails. Watch our animals come to life during the wet weather months!
