Open Studios Cornwall 2017

Now in its thirteenth year, Open Studios Cornwall 2017 will be the largest ever with 293 artists, craftsmen and designers opening their studios and workshops to the public from Saturday 27th May to Sunday 4th June. Grab a guide, create your very own art trail, follow the orange Os and explore the landscape as well as creative Cornwall from Coverack to Crackington Haven, Penzance to Port Isaac and Lamorna to Lanreath.

What’s it all about?
The 13th annual Open Studios Cornwall is a free art event, with a record 260 artists, designers and makers primed to showcase their extraordinary talents to the public. If you’re an art aficionado, or simply relish the opportunity to peek behind the curtain of unique studio spaces, you’ll discover the inspiration, personality and processes behind emerging and established artists. Just follow the iconic orange Os to step into a world of creativity.

What happens?
Artists across Cornwall throw open their studio doors to the public for nine days. Visitors can tour undiscovered corners of the county, exploring unusual studios spaces from remote cottages and chapels to beachside galleries and historic buildings. It’s an opportunity to meet the creators behind truly distinct finds including sculpture, glasswork, ceramic, painting and textiles.

Many studios are family-friendly, offering adults and children the chance to ask questions, learn techniques and master a new skill. One-on-one workshops are held throughout Open Studios Cornwall in unusual Cornish spaces. Whether you fancy yourself a painter, potter or jewellery maker, you can try your hand at a masterclass. You never know where it could lead…
