Lusty Glaze Beach Annual Beach Tag Rugby Tournament
Three days of tag rugby on the sand - it’s everyone’s favourite weekend of the year! A fabulous open-age tournament, attracting teams from all over the country.
Lusty Glaze Beach Tag Rugby forms the highlight of many a team’s sporting calendar. Now in its 17th year, this very special tournament brings families and teams back to the beach every August Bank Holiday. The event attracts around 70 teams, all eager to battle it out to become Champions.
The weekend begins with a small, one day tournament on Friday 25th August 2017 with both group and knockout stage games.
Saturday 27th August and Sunday 28th August 2016 see the main event take to the sand. Every team will have games on both days, with a league format on Saturday determining which level of competition teams are entered into on Sunday. After Sunday’s leagues, there are flood-lit knockout stages and finals. Sunday evening also has the annual firework display and a great live band.
The Beach Tag Rugby Tournament has an amazing atmosphere, with a healthy dose of competitiveness and team spirit. The RFU kindly bring a team of referees along to officiate the event. Enjoy a day spent on the beautiful Lusty Glaze beach that has been crowned by The Times and The Sunday Times as the Beach of the Year 2017.
The Driftwood Cafe, Lusty Glaze Bar & Restaurant and the event bars will be open all weekend and there will be music and commentary all day.
Teams can have up to 10 players per squad, with 5 on the pitch at any one time. Due to the popularity of the event, entry is limited to two teams per organisation. Entry is £50 per team for Friday and £60 per team for the two-day event.
