Newlyn Art Gallery

Newlyn Art Gallery has been a cornerstone of contemporary art in the far west of Cornwall for over 125 years, celebrating and supporting artists from the region and beyond. In 2007, following a major renovation, the gallery reopened with a modern pavilion extension and launched The Exchange in the heart of Penzance. This second space allows the organisation to host larger and more ambitious exhibitions and events, enabling an exciting programme across two distinct venues. Together, they present contemporary art in all media by regional, national, and international artists, alongside a vibrant calendar of events, activities, and educational opportunities.

The gallery features The Picture Room, a dedicated space showcasing regularly changing exhibitions of affordable artwork by regional and national artists, with all works available for purchase. The on-site shop offers a curated selection of ceramics, jewellery, cards, and art books, perfect for gifts or mementos.

The upstairs Studio provides a welcoming space for community activities and events, with its panoramic window offering breathtaking views over Newlyn Harbour, Mount’s Bay, and St Michael’s Mount.

The recently enhanced outdoor areas include a serene Garden Café, accessible from Newlyn Green. Nestled within secluded gardens with unique pebble seating, the café serves hot drinks, cakes, and pastries, providing a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome, though access to exhibition spaces may be restricted at certain times.
