Newlyn Art Gallery

Newlyn Art Gallery exists because of a long history of contemporary art making in the far west of Cornwall and has celebrated contemporary art and supported the artists that produce it for more than 125 years. In 2007 the gallery reopened after a period of renovation with the addition of a new pavilion. At this time the gallery also launched its new space, The Exchange, in the centre of Penzance, which has enabled the organisation to take on larger, more ambitious projects across its two sites. Together the galleries continue to present contemporary work in all media by regional, national and international artists, with a programme of events, activities and education.

There is a small space called The Picture Room which has changing exhibitions of affordable works for sale by regional and national artists. There is also a shop selling ceramics, jewellery, cards and art books. The Studio on the first floor is used as space for community events and activities. It has a panoramic window allowing sweeping views of Newlyn Harbour and Mount’s Bay, including St Michael’s Mount.

The gallery recently completed a project to enhance its outdoor spaces including a Garden Café with access from Newlyn Green, in the secluded gardens with pebble seating. The café serves hot drinks, cakes and pastries.

Well behaved dogs are welcome, but may not be allowed in the exhibition spaces during certain times.
