Looe Harbour Coffee Shop & Heritage Centre

Looe Harbour Heritage Centre breathes new life into Looe’s rich maritime history.

Looe has been an important harbour for centuries, but until now its maritime story has not been told. A visit to our purpose-built Heritage Centre in The Old Sardine Factory on the Quay in West Looe offers a unique experience immersing you in the story of the harbour, river and bridges. Our extensive image library, hands-on exhibits and oral history videos help you see how Looe folk exported pilchards from Looe to Italy, sailed across the Atlantic to catch cod off of Newfoundland and why sardine fishing was so important to the community. Plus all the family will enjoy our specially commissioned ‘Splatt the Seagull’ film - helping children and people of all ages learn all about how the fishing boats and fish market work in Looe right here and now.

As part of your visit - why not join us in our Coffee Shop for coffee and cake, or even a Cream Tea or delicious sandwich?

Looe Harbour Heritage Centre and Coffee shop are open from Easter to October.
