Trains run regularly from late March through early October, with additional services throughout the year.

Very enjoyable couple of hours, even if your not a train/steam fan. The train journeys are lovely in the old carriages. Also the station staff/volunteers are very approachable and knowledgeable about the trains and carriages on site.

Steam, Scenery and Something for Everyone

Visitors can step back in time as they explore the fascinating exhibition coach, where they can discover the vital role Bodmin Railway played in Cornwall’s china clay industry. There’s also hands-on play for younger visitors, making it a great stop for families.

On regular service days, passengers can choose to start their journey with a bacon butty aboard the first train of the day, or enjoy a leisurely cream tea in the afternoon as the Cornish countryside rolls by. For a truly memorable experience, why not book a nostalgic private compartment? These can even be decorated for special occasions—perfect for birthdays, anniversaries or a surprise treat.

The station café serves a range of hot and cold refreshments, including great local coffee. You don’t need a ticket to soak up the atmosphere—visitors are always welcome on the platform to watch the trains go by and enjoy a relaxing drink.
