Buggy-friendly beaches in Cornwall

Discover some of Cornwall’s most beautiful beaches that are safe, clean and perfect for families with buggy-bound tots. Below are some suggestions, to help you tick all the boxes for a fantastic family day out beside the seaside.

Polzeath Beach, Polzeath
Polzeath boasts a super friendly beach with level access from the car park and a large expanse of golden sand. There are plenty of rock pools, popular with small children with buckets and spades and at low tide the soft sand extends ¼ mile in either direction. Lifeguards are on the beach from Easter until the end of October, and facilities include toilets, shops, cafes and pubs.

Porth Beach, Newquay
This lovely sandy beach situated on the outskirts of Newquay is sheltered by beautiful headlands and well worth a visit with little ones. The level access at the left entrance makes it an easy stroll with buggies and little ones on bikes. And the shallow stream offers safe bathing for small children, along with plenty of rock pools and caves waiting to be explored. There's lifeguard cover May-Sept, shops, cafes, pub and toilets nearby for your convenience.

Summerleaze Beach, Bude
Popular with the buggy brigade, Summerleaze beach has a unique appeal, being only a five minute walk from the centre of Bude and the large car park that leads directly to the sand dunes. The river, with its bobbing fishing boats, flanks the wide, sandy beach that is sheltered by the impressive breakwater, making the beach particularly popular with families and surfers. There's also a seapool for safe bathing.

Lifeguard cover is provided on the beach from Easter onwards. Facilities include RNLI boat station, toilets, changing areas, showers, windbreak hire and cafes.

East Looe Beach, Looe
This lovely bucket and spade style beach is located on east Cornwall’s tranquil coast, a long-time favourite with holidaymakers. It provides safe bathing, especially for the little ones and the sands great for castle building. Take a stroll along the Banjo Pier next to the beach where you can watch the fishing boats come and go or explore the rockpools to the left of the beach.

There are multiple car parks, with level access to the beach for buggy walkers, Toilets, shops and café facilities are conveniently located nearby.

Gyllyngvase Beach, Falmouth
Enjoy the easy level stroll to the buggy friendly Gyllyngvase beach, just a 10 minute walk from the centre of Falmouth. The soft white sand has plenty of rock pools to explore at low tide with shrimps, crabs and squat lobsters in abundance. Parking and toilet facilities are close by along with the beautiful Gyllyngvase gardens and a popular Beach Café.
