The Return of the Secret Gin Garden
The Return of the Secret Gin Garden will pop up once again on Saturday 24th August 2019 for a decadent soiree of live music and tantalising beverages. Playing host to headline acts The Magic Numbers and The Brand New Heavies, this year’s event will spill out onto the rolling green hills of the Scorrier House Estate for a captivating day that is set to be bigger and better than ever. Immersing all those involved into a secluded world of enchanting performances, tickets for the event are available now via the website.
Building on the much-loved Secret Gin Garden which appears each year at The Great Estate Festival, the second edition of The Return of the Secret Gin Garden will spring to life with the addition of a new event layout, main stage, headline artists and exciting happenings. Following on from The Great Estate earlier this year, The Return of the Secret Gin Garden will give festival fans the opportunity to once again set up camp in the grounds of Scorrier House for one night only.
Set to headline this year’s event, multi-platinum band The Magic Numbers burst onto the music scene back in 2005 and quickly went on to become one of the nation’s best-loved bands. Comprising two pairs of brothers and sisters from London, the happy English pop-rockers are known for their unique harmonies, melodic hooks, songwriting craftsmanship and timeless sound.
Pioneering the London Acid Jazz scene, funk royalty The Brand New Heavies will play the main stage of The Return of the Secret Gin Garden this August. Having sold over 2.5 millions records, achieved 16 UK Top 40 singes and released two double Platinum-selling albums, the group continue a 30-year run that has seen them dominate pop charts, inspire other artists and build a world-wide fanbase.
Formed in 2004, English indie pop group Loose Salute will bring boy/girl vocals to The Return of the Secret Gin Garden. Combining joyful celebrations of friendships and relationships with melancholic ballads, expect a performance infused with Fairport folky, Bolan stomp, Beach Boy joy, Crosby, Stills, Nash and fun.
Other acts to look out for include serial knee jerkers Mr Tea and The Minions, and the funky Latin beats of Malavita who fuse heaps of percussion, soaring guitars, skanktastic bass lines, punchy horns and soulful female vocals.
Commenting on the second event, Festival Directors Ian Whittaker and Ben Hall stated: “The Secret Gin Garden is one of the most loved venues at The Great Estate Festival, so it’s a really fun opportunity to create a standalone event that is inspired by it. With some major headline acts on board this year like The Magic Numbers and The Brand New Heavies, the intimate party will enter a new magical realm this August.”
As guests wander along winding pathways and stumble across hidden openings, the Secret Gin Garden itself will also play host to a variety of DJ’s throughout the August bank holiday evening. With sets scheduled until 2am, guests can look forward to performances within the old walled gardens and leafy corners of the magnificent manor house.
Newly added for 2019 and taking inspiration from The Great Estate, the one-day event will welcome the ever-popular Woodland Silent Disco. Guiding revellers through the enchanted tree-lined gardens of Scorrier House, glistening moonlight, colourful laser beams and a giant disco ball will await late-night party-goers.
Festival guests can also expect burlesque performances from Tallulah Blue, plus a mixture of other theatrical installations.
