ThunderCat Racing National Championships

2016 dates to be confirmed

What’s it all about?

Taking place in Cornwall, these light-weight, inflatable boats will be descending on Watergate Bay for a weekend of national action. Teams from all over the country will be competing for the crown. If you like thrills and spills this is an event not to be missed.

What happens?

Rounds five and six of the Thundercat National Championships will come to Watergate Bay on 6 - 8 May (dates to be confirmed) with around 20 teams competing for the title.

Returning for its fifth year, the adrenaline-fuelled competition sees surf powerboat catamarans reaching speeds of up to 65mph close to the shoreline.

The four metre boats are each crewed by two people: a driver to steer and a co-pilot who uses their weight to stabilise the boat and achieve the best possible speed around the course.

Teams will compete in six heats, with the top 12 teams going through to the final nine-lap heat on each day. With boats battling the incoming surf and reaching high speeds, the event promises to be an exhilarating show for spectators.
