Liskeard Lights Up
What is the event all about?
Liskeard Lights up is a packed day in Liskeard with a magical lantern parade: ‘The Lights Before Christmas’, fireworks and Christmas shopping. This year’s theme is Cornish Christmas Carols. A Cornish music expert will work with local schools to create a lovely medley of Cornish Carols for the evening procession. Local artists will run the community workshops to make giant lit structures and lanterns with school children. The Lights Before Christmas lantern parade promises to be a breath-taking and cheerful event to celebrate the switching on of the Christmas Lights in Liskeard.
There will be entertainment throughout the day with shopping, Father Christmas in his grotto, and markets. As night falls the procession will gather: lead by the silver band, Father Christmas and a giant Shadow ‘Picci Tree’ and followed by lanterns giant and small, singing of Cornish Christmas carols, music, culminating in the lighting of the town’s Christmas tree and firework display.
