Newquay's Ladies' County Gig Championships are hugely competitve and attract crews from all over the west of England and as far afield as the Irish Republic and the Netherlands.
What happens?
There are a series of races on both days which leads to the quarters, semis and final on the Sunday. Races take place from Newquay Harbour, and they are free to watch.
How can you take part?
The County Gig Championships are an off shore spectacle and free to come and watch. The best vantage points are at the harbour and from North Quay extending to the Huer's Hut. The whole course can be seen with the start from the harbour to the eastern turning point off Lusty Glaze and back on the return course to the westerly mark off the Huer's hut and back to the finish at the harbour. The whole bay is a natural amphitheatre which provides excellent viewing.
