Redruth International Mining & Pasty Festival 2022
The International Mining and Pasty Festival celebrates the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Redruth; through pasties, mining and music!
The event is focussed around the town centre and is completely free to attend. The day starts off with the creation of the gigantic ‘Redruth Pasty’ at the Miner’s Statue in Fore Street, sponsored by many pasty ingredient suppliers and producers. Once made it will be whisked off to be baked then returned to the Miner’s Statue later in the afternoon to be cut up and handed out, free, to the community.
Pasty festival returns! Covering three days, this festival is jam packed celebrating all things Cornish, Heritage and Innovation.
Friday 9th September – 5pm – 9pm (Approx)
The festival kicks off with an evening performance with Cobweb Tours leading a story-based walk accompanied by the Redruth Festival Band to Wheal Uny Mines via St Euny Church. Once at the old mine workings, there will be more music and storytelling before the stacks of the engine houses are once again smoked in memory of all the miners who worked in mines at home and abroad.
Saturday 10th September – 10am – 4pm
The festival continues with a day filled with live music, street food, interactive stalls, pasty competitions, workshops and a vintage vehicle display. Stalls will line Fore Street and there’ll be pockets of entertainment and interactive events across town; festival-goers will be invited to bake or craft a pasty for judging with some great prizes on offer for the winners.
