It’s official… Spring has arrived in Cornwall.

 

We are often spoiled with breathtaking scenery and gorgeous golden-sand beaches, but we are also treated to an extended Spring season following its early arrival in Cornwall.

 

And here’s why…

 

The arrival of Spring is announced by Cornwall’s Spring Story once each Magnolia tree in six of the Great Gardens of Cornwall has at least 50 blooms, which this year occurred on Monday 27th February.

 

Each year, the head gardeners closely monitor the trees in great anticipation of the 50th bloom, waiting to tell the world that Spring has sprung.

 

The six gardens are:

 

This year, the ‘Nearly Home Trees’ were lit in a magnolia glow to signify the start of the extended Spring season, three weeks before the official first day of Spring.
