Little Tolmennor Barn

Welcome to Little Tolmennor Barn

Little Tolmennor Barn has a charming and cosy ambience having been tastefully converted with old fashioned materials and modern quality furnishings and fittings.

The peaceful rural location is free from traffic and crowds yet only a short drive from the south coast footpaths and the buzz of nearby Porthleven with it’s renowned restaurants and pubs. Praa Sands beach is only 7 minutes by car and to the North, 20 minutes away, is Gwithian beach with it’s three miles of golden sands. We are an ideal retreat for couples who want to explore and savour the beautiful Lizard and South West Peninsulas and then relax in the comfort of a stress free environment.

Your hosts, Jayne and John live next door in the farmhouse and are always available to tend to your needs yet ensure that your privacy and seclusion are respected.

    A home from home...

We converted the barn to a high standard in 2006 to 2008 putting in underfloor heating in the bedroom and bathroom and using traditional building materials to ensure the old fashioned ambience of natural woods and stone. Fabrics, furnishings and accessories are all quality and provided with your comfort and relaxation in mind. We believe we provide everything to make your stay as easy and stress free as possible.

Outside we have a parking area. In one of the adjoining outbuildings, there is a utility room with freezer, washing machine, tumble drier and cabinet drier to cope with wet clothing and boots.

Thank you very much for this little hideaway! Restored and furnished with the view for the detail, this barn is very lovely to live in, equipped with everything you need. We felt very comfortable here, especially due to the warm welcome from Jayne and John. There is still so much to be discovered in Cornwall, that we have to come back one day.

    Escape to the countryside...

We are happy to welcome one well-behaved dog and we have a private garden for your exclusive use, although it is not fully enclosed. We provide an outdoor warm shower to keep your dog clean after a muddy or sandy walk and there are towels provided to rub them down. With footpaths and bridleways right outside the cottage, you can walk onto Tregonning Hill with the stunning views across Mounts Bay, the Lizard and beyond. Being at the end of a No Through Road, we have no passing traffic, other than occasional pedestrians or horse-riders. We have Hugo, our border terrier, who wanders freely around the smallholding and we have Nelson, our black cat, plus horses in the surrounding fields.

We do ask that your dog is kept out of the fields where the horses are grazing and that it is not left unattended in the property. Cornwall is one of the most dog friendly places in the UK, welcome in many shops and cafes. Almost all beaches are unrestricted except in July and August, but there are still some that allow dogs all the year round. There are also miles of coastal footpaths a short drive away. In common with a lot of holiday cottages, there is a charge of £25 for your dog.

We make every effort to personally welcome arriving guests, to show you everything you need to know so that from the very beginning you can start to relax and enjoy your stay.
