Situated on the outskirts of St Austell on the South Coast of Cornwall is Charlestown Harbour, an unspoilt, original Grade II Listed Harbour. Used as a key location for the filming of the BBC's remake of the 1970's hit series Poldark, starring Aiden Turner as the Cornish hero of the show, Ross Poldark.

The harbour is the home port for a famous collection of old ships which are employed in film projects all over the world - they have brought work and life to the quays and harbour buildings and are a particular draw for visitors. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and gift shops to be enjoyed whilst taking in the breathtaking views out over St Austell Bay.

Poldark connection:

Charlestown near St Austell, famed for its collection of ships and traditional appearance, has long caught the attention of location managers and for the filming of Poldark stood for the principal town. As you wander along the side of the original Grade II Listed harbour complete with Tall Ships, you can almost imagine that you’ve been cast as an extra or have been transported to Graham Winston’s 18th Century setting.
