Rosé on the Rocks

    Rosé on the Rocks

This summer, The Idle Rocks is delighted to introduce Rosé on the Rocks, a new weekend dining experience centred around rosé wine that perfectly captures the relaxed, sun-soaked spirit of Cornwall’s south coast. Set on the hotel’s iconic waterfront terrace overlooking the Fal Estuary, the offering runs every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 3:30pm throughout the summer months.

In partnership with Rock Angel, the acclaimed rosé produced by Château d'Esclans in Provence, guests can enjoy a carefully curated rosé wine list, poured from magnums to perfectly accompany long, leisurely afternoons on the terrace. New head chef Carla Jones has designed a menu celebrating the freshest local produce and the very best of Cornish seafood, championing the sea-to-table philosophy at the heart of The Idle Rocks.

Guests might begin with plump Porthilly oysters, served natural or with a zingy mignonette, or perhaps share a spectacular Fruits de Mer platter, showcasing the day’s freshest catch sourced from local fisherman Gareth Austin and his boat, Jodie-Ann, moored just across the harbour.

For mains, Carla offers an enticing selection that balances lightness with indulgence. Imagine tender monkfish in a fragrant satay sauce, or the beautifully buttery gurnard cooked with kelp butter - a true taste of Cornwall’s coastal flavours. For those craving a classic treat, the simply grilled St Mawes lobster with parsley and garlic butter is a highlight - a true catch-of-the-day experience. Meanwhile, the exquisite turbot on the bone, served with vin jaune marinière, offers a more indulgent option for sharing or savouring solo.

Adding a personal touch, guests can visit the market fish counter to select their preferred fish and preparation, speaking directly with Chef Carla for a bespoke meal. Saturdays come alive with a live DJ, setting a chilled soundtrack that complements the warm weather and relaxed atmosphere, making the terrace the perfect place to unwind with a glass of rosé in hand.

With stunning harbour views and a reputation for stylish coastal dining, The Idle Rocks continues to set the standard for laid-back luxury on Cornwall’s south coast.

Rosé on the Rocks runs every weekend from 12pm to 3:30pm throughout the summer.
