Bodmin Airfield is the largest, single site, traditional wildflower meadow in the region, officially listed as a Country Wildlife Site, protecting the wildflowers that are so important for bees and other wildlife... and coincidentally is a lovely place to learn to fly. The airfield is open every day from 0900 to 1800 (Summer), 0900 to 1700 (Winter) The Diner 31 is open 0930 -1530 (Hot food until 1430).
Flight Experiences are the perfect gift for anyone! Enjoy flying over some of the finest scenery that Cornwall and Devon have to offer. Bodmin Airfield has a fantastic geographical position, allowing aircraft to reach both coasts in a matter of minutes. You have a choice of experiences: Introductory Flights – when you can simply relax and enjoy the views whilst being flown by a qualified club pilot – or Trial Lessons, when you will fly with a qualified Flight Instructor and be taught the basic flying skills. You will be taking control within minutes after takeoff.
WHAT TO EXPECT
When you arrive at the airfield you will greeted by the Duty Manager who will book you in and introduce you to your Pilot. You will be given a quick briefing on the aircraft and the areas you can fly during your allotted time. Each flight is bespoke and tailor made to suit you!
Once you’re strapped in and ready to go, your friends and family can wave you off from our viewing area as you embark on your flying adventure. Make sure not to forget your camera to savour your experience and show all your friends!
G-IROJ – Magni 16C Gyroplane Experience open cockpit flying in our Magni – “Primrose”. Gyroplanes are the the most cost effective short-field, fast, modern, Rotax powered aircraft with exceptional load carrying and high wind/cross-wind capabilities. The lift rotor is powered from the engine for take off and thereafter is powered simply by forward momentum. 50m required for takeoff and 5m for landing. Prices: £140 - £240
The Magni M16 is one of the world’s longest-established and most-produced factory built gyroplanes. The Magni M16 Tandem Trainer is fully approved under BCAR Section T, the UK CAA’s approval standard for gyroplanes. The Rotax Powered Magni, nicknamed ” Primrose” is the latest addition to the Bodmin “stable”, offering load carrying capability, 100 mph performance and incredible short field performance, with take off runs typically at 50m and landing as short as 5m! The Magni dual control Tandem is claimed to be the Gyroplane that showed the World what modern Gyroplanes can do and is one of the world’s longest-established and most-produced factory built gyroplanes. G-BNSM – CESSNA 152T The Cessna 152 is one of the most popular two seat aircraft in the world. The high wing provides fantastic visibility. Prices: £125 - £250
The Cessna 152T is an American two-seat, general aviation airplane, used primarily for flight training. The ‘T’ stands for “Trainer”. Most pilots will have at some point logged time in one of these aircraft! The high wing provides fantastic visibility for sightseeing and short field operations.
G-EGLA – CESSNA 172M The Cessna 172 has 4 seats allowing the voucher holder to take up to two friends/family with them to share the experience! (*Weight restrictions apply; see Terms & Conditions). Prices: from £145 - £260
For passengers, there is a small charge of £20 per additional passenger, paid on the day, not at time of booking. The 172 is the workhorse of flying schools the world over.
The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is a four-seat, single-engine, high wing, fixed-wing aircraft made by the Cessna Aircraft Company. More 172s have been built than any other aircraft! The M model features an improved leading edge for better low-speed handling. This aircraft is perfect for both touring and training.
