Find out more about cider making in Cornwall...

Cornwall is renowned for the quality of its Ciders and Spirits. What better way to learn more about it than to visit a local producer. In Lostwithiel it’s possible to find out all about cidermaking and distilling in the one place.

The Fowey Valley Cidery & Distillery sits on the banks of the river Fowey and is one of the very few distilleries to make all of their drinks from scratch with no shortcuts. Our Gin is made from our own vodka and is a traditional recipe with light citrus notes and just a hint of spice .

Our tasting room is open 10 till 4 Monday to Friday but for a more in depth look at our creations we offer a regular free one-hour tour with tastings which you need to book. If you would like the opportunity to turn your own hand to making gin or cider take an afternoon class and experience it for yourself!

Another side of Fowey Valley are the food products including vintage apple cider vinegar, hand crafted chutney & chilli jam and also a superb olive oil, from olives grown by friends and family in Sicily. A newly added product is a divine apple balsamic vinegar, made from the must of apples and not grapes, and this has just been awarded the prestigious “Taste of the West” Gold award.

If you just like to browse, our small shop on-site gives you the chance to do just that, and also sample the large array of products before you buy. Whilst in Lostwithiel, a small town full of character and history, checkout the lovely range of independent traders including antiques, jewellery, homeware, delis, cafes and pubs. Everything is very close together and there is a great picnic spot on the banks of the river Fowey, right by the five arch medieval bridge.

Fowey Valley Cidery & Distillery is easy to access by train, as it’s just a short walk from the station, or if travelling by car you can leave it in our car park while you explore the old town after your visit.
