This summer catch two children's classics on the lawn at Bedruthan Hotel

Bedruthan Hotel has teamed up once again with Illyria for an award-winning performance of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves on their stunning sea view lawn on August 3rd.

Young Ali Baba stumbles across an enchanted cave when he overhears the magic words that open it: “Open Sesame!” Inside the cave, he finds untold amounts of gold and jewels and takes some of it home to show his wife. But what will he do when she chides him for stealing? Can he keep the secret from his jealous brother? And when the Robber King comes looking for the missing treasure supported by an army of 40 angry thieves – will he and his family survive? The show is notable for a scene where one character polishes off most of the thieves – 37 to be precise, and you can count each one – with a cast of just five of the most hardworking actors in the business!

Now in their 28th season, they return with one of their most popular ever shows, last performed in 2003. ALI BABA AND THE FORTY THIEVES! is adapted from the One Thousand and One Nights (otherwise known as the Arabian Nights). Like all the stories in this towering literary classic, it is packed with cliffhangers, larger than life characters, and laughs galore. There is lots and lots to join in with and the most magical cave you’ve ever seen!

Perfect summer fun for thieves and vagabonds aged 5+.

Arrive from 4:30pm, performance starts at 5pm with a running time of 1 hour 40 minutes (including a 20-minute interval).

But before that on July 6th join Quantum Theatre for an award-winning performance of Wind in the Willows on their stunning sea view lawn.

Spring is in the air and Mole has found a wonderful new world. There’s boating with Ratty, a feast with Badger and high jinx on the open road with that reckless ruffian, Mr Toad of Toad Hall. The four become the firmest of friends, but after Toad’s latest escapade, can they join together and beat the wretched weasels?

Join Mole, Ratty and Badger on their adventures, picnicking on the river bank, messing about on boats, and rescuing the reckless Mr Toad from his brushes with the law in this heartwarming, whimsical tale of friendship, mishap and madcap adventures in Quantum Theatre’s brand new adaptation of this timeless Kenneth Grahame classic.

Quantum Theatre produces and tours original work and adaptations of the classics into theatres, outdoor venues and schools throughout the UK and Ireland. All Quantum’s output is written (or adapted) and produced by the artistic director, Michael Whitmore who has evolved Quantum’s characteristic style; pacey, humorous theatre accessible to all ages whether it be Michael’s own plays or his adaptations of the classics, such as Shakespeare and Beatrix Potter.

Perfect for those that are aged 5+.

Arrive from 4:30pm, performance starts at 5pm with a running time of 1 hour 35 mins (including a 15-minute interval).
